Welcome to Almost French Kindergarten!
We are delighted to invite parents and carers who have children registered on the Almost French Kindergarten waiting list to attend one of our two Kindergarten Open Days. Please feel free to share this invitation with other parents who might be interested in registering their child/children at Almost French Kindergarten.
Almost French kindergarten was founded in 2016 and is designed for children between 3 – 5 years old.
The program is run by qualified and experienced dynamic French teachers.
All teachers are VIT registered, first aid trained and hold a valid Working With Children check.
We have three passionate French educators per class which is above the child/staff ratio for kindergarten programs (1/11).
We offer a licensed funded kindergarten program, which follows the guidelines of the Victorian early years learning framework (VEYLF), the National Quality Framework (NQF)and the French Curriculum of ‘petite et moyenne section of maternelle’.
Almost French has a zero tolerance for child abuse.

How we teach
We offer a French immersion program.
Children learn French through fun and challenging activities. We have a busy program which includes cooking, sport, art & craft, singing, a variety of games, multimedia and plenty of activities to develop literacy and numeracy skills… all in French! We pride ourselves in offering a safe and caring environment for your children and our program is designed to follow the children’s interests, therefore in constant evolution.
We also encourage the children to become more confident and independent in their daily life.

How we communicate
We monitor progress with individual portfolios and reports twice a year to parents (June and December) Your child’s milestones and competences will be outlined.
We believe in the importance of building strong relationships with parents and like to communicate on our learnings and activities through Storypark, an online platform where we post weekly updates, photos and important information about your child.
Practical information about the program
As of 2020, we will be offering four kindergarten programs: Three programs of 16 hours (2 days) per week each ‘Les Grenouilles’, ‘Les Coccinelles’ and ‘Les Papillons’ and one program of 8 hours (one day) per week ‘Les Abeilles’ as per table below:

South Yarra – St Joseph’s Parish- 50 Fitzgerald Street, South Yarra, Victoria, 3141
Payments for each term is due 2 weeks before the start of the term.
More details to follow once your child has been offered a place into the program.
How to enrol
If you would like to place your child on the waiting list, please click here to access and complete the form which takes approximately 5 min. Please note that a non-refundable $20 deposit fee is required to secure a place for your child on the waiting list (more information available on the online form).
We will contact you in June/July the year before your child is due to start to let you know whether or not we have a place available.
